Barbara Walters’s longtime New York City apartment has a potential new owner once again. The Central Park-facing co-op was listed at $17.75 million in November and went into contract, but the deal fell through. In January, the luxury co-op came back onto the market at $16.995 million—$2.755 million less than its original listing price in spring of 2023. According to TMZ, a new buyer has emerged for the apartment Walters called home from 1989 until her December 2022 passing. The listing is held by Alexa Lambert of Compass, but the price has not been disclosed.
If the sale goes through, the new owner will inherit an abode with a rich history and stunning views. The full-floor unit, built in 1925, features 11 rooms and 10-foot-high ceilings throughout. Walters’ design choices blended classical and contemporary styles, evident in details like traditional drapes and pieces like her 18th-century lacquered secretary bookcase and red-lacquered sitting room and office space. The apartment also features a wood-burning fireplace in the formal living room and primary bedroom.

On November 6, an auction was held for Walters’ estate at Bonhams, featuring 300 lots of furniture, art, jewelry, and clothing valued at $8 million. The auction included treasures like 19th-century paintings by American artists and an original Eames chair covered in red leather.
